Introduction
Organisations that are working with vulnerable people in the UK are invited to enter for the second SupportActionNet Awards that recognise innovation and excellence in supporting vulnerable people to achieve their social and emotional aspirations. This would include sustainable projects and activities that:
- Strengthen a positive sense of identity in service users and clients
- Increase choices and freedom enjoyed by services users and increase their sense of optimism
- Help service users to build and sustain lasting and loving one-to-one relationships
- Build and re-build relationships with family and friends.
There are two Award categories (see below). There will be a prize of £1,500 for each of the two winning entries that receive the Awards, sponsored by the Ashden Trust

Entry
categories for 2007 Awards
The 2007 Awards will recognise innovation and excellence for sustainable projects and activities in the following two categories:
- Larger service providers in the UK (including supported housing services for vulnerable people with more than 100 bed spaces and/or more than 50 staff.)
- Smaller service providers in the UK (including supported housing services for vulnerable people with fewer than 100 bed spaces or units and/or employing fewer than 50 staff.)
Eligibility for entry
To be eligible to enter either of the Awards categories:
- Entries must relate to activities or projects that have been carried out in the UK during 2006 and/or 2007.
- You may nominate your own organisation or another organisation.

Entries that have been shortlisted will be announced.
Awards presentation
The awards will be presented at the SupportActionNet conference in London on 27 November 2007. Visit www.supportactionnet.org.uk for the latest information about the awards.
Judging criteria for the 2007 Awards
The judges will look for evidence of ways in which the entrant organisation has improved the quality of service users’ lives in specific ways, that incluse:
- Strengthen a positive sense of identity in service users and clients
- Increase choices and freedom enjoyed by services users and increase their sense of optimism
- Help service users to build and sustain lasting and loving one-to-one relationships
- Build and re-build relationships with family and friends.
In addition, the judges will look for projects that can:
- demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving;
- have a proven track record of success;
- are capable of being sustained and replicated elsewhere.
Winners receive Awards in the two entry categories listed above. In addition Commendations may also be awarded.
Entry rules and procedures
- Completed entries should either be emailed before the closing date to supportactionnet@lemosandcrane.co.uk using the SupportActionNet 2007 awards entry form, or be submitted online before the closing date at www.supportactionnet.org.uk. All three sections should be completed.
- The Supporting Statement that must be included in the entry should be up to 1,800 words in length. The content of the Supporting Statement should be correct at the time of writing and if need could be substantiated by the organisation.
- Entrants may be asked to provide further information.
- Receipt of all entries will be acknowledged by email.
- The judges’ decision is final. Awards will be made at the judges’ discretion and no correspondence will be entered into concerning any decision. Not all the awards advertised may be awarded if the judges consider that the criteria have not been met. Additional commendations may be made at the judges’ discretion.
- The content of any entry may be used for informing other members of SupportActionNet and also for publicity purposes unless the entrant withholds their consent to this in writing.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and procedures and to have agree to be bound by them when entering this competition.
